Calculation procedures for the modified Newton-Raphson method are the same as for the Newton-Raphson method, except the stiffnesses for the first cycle are held constant for each iterative cycle of that particular load step. This reduces the amount of computational time required to assemble each element stiffness matrix into a global stiffness matrix. However, the number of iterative cycles required for convergence may be greater than for the tangent stiffness method and has an additional disadvantage that the solution may be less accurate.
